Baba Farid Sen. Sec. School students put up a good show in academics.


Baba Farid Sen. Sec. School is the leading school in malwa region. 10+2 students of the school brought laurels not only to school but to Baba Farid Group of Institutions as they notched up a brilliant performance in exams of Punjab school education board. 464 students appeared for the exam and recorded 100% result. 424 students passed in first division and 90 students secured more than 80%. The success stories of the students do not end here. Akhil jindal academically gifted student of commerce bagged first position in district in commerce bagged first position and overall 2nd position in district. He got 89.7% marks. Highest marks in non-medical basic are bagged by Vinny Arora and Trinder Kaur both got 89.1%. In medical MCQ Jaspreet Kaur secured highest marks 88.5%, in arts 84.3% highest bagged by gagandeep Kaur. The school is overjoyed with result. The 100% result made the parents and teachers proud. Chairman S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, S. Baljinder Singh (Principal) and Mrs. Navnider Kaur Dhillon (Vice Principal) & Mr.Shashi Kant Sharma (HOD Commerce) congratulated the students, parents and teachers for such a marvelous achievement. At last they wished good luck to all the students for their glorious future.

World Environment Day observed at BFGI


Both Social as well as economic developments have affected our environment to a great extent. Now a day’s environmentalist’s fear is that, man is moving towards his own destruction at the name of scientific development. Co2 emissions by vehicles, Smoke and Gases released from factories have polluted the air and it is becoming difficult to breathe. Industrial waste is being thrown into the rivers or buried under the earth, hence surface as well as ground water has been polluted. If man wants to live a happy life, he will have to be aware about his responsibility BFGI has dedicated year 2012 to Live Green theme. Living a letter life by making sustainable use of natural resources and making the earth green by planting more and more trees is the aim of live Green. The other motive than this is to make people aware and motivate them to adopt eco friendly habits in daily life. These views were given by S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman, Baba Farid Group of Institutions. Baba Farid Sr. Sec. School in collaboration with BFGI Eco Club organized collage making, Poster making, Best out of waste, quiz and declamation contests to commemorate world environment day.




Mr. B.D. Sharma dy. director, BFGI in his welcome address urged the students to be aware of hazards to our environment. He also said that the man consciously or unconsciously destroying the nature and environment for which coming generations will not forgive him. He also told that our institute distributed literature, eco-friendly Bags and also makes the people aware to save environment. He also has thrown the light on the efforts of BFGI. Along with this process at Bathinda a Shabeel was arranged. All the staff members of BFGI reached institute in Private buses rather than their personal vehicles. BFGI have pledged to organize awareness programs, seminars, workshops, conferences, exhibitions, green tech fest, organic farming and preparations of green buildings demo models and to assign research projects to students. Various teams of Social welfare department of BFGI are visiting schools to create awareness among students for saving the natural resources. Till now these teams have visited more than 250 schools and also quiz competitions are also organized for students.  The members of the teams distributed trees students and also inspire the students to saving the trees. In this programme the winners were felicitated. At last vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Navnider Kaur, Vice principal Baba Farid. Sr. Sec. School.

PTU sponsered Faculty Development Programme at BFCET Concluded


Baba Farid College of engineering and Technology organized a 5 days Faculty Development Programme - A short term technical teaching training programme on “ Recent Trends in Computing and Communication” which is organizing from 26th  May to 1st june 2012. This programme is co-sponsored by Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. It is an opportunity for the faculty members from various reputed institutions to enrich them with valuable information about Recent Trends in Computing and Communication. On the first day Dr., Manish Jindal, Associate Professor, Punjabi University, Patiala share his knowledge for Introduction & applications of Optical Character Recognition. He discussed on various algos used for OCR and tells about Pattern Recognition in detail. On the 2nd Day Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Associate Professor, Punjabi University, Patiala acquainted the members about scope of research in Software engineering and research methodology in empirical software engineering.  Today, All the faculty members gained a lot about the e-wastage & online social media (OSM) like facebook, twitter, orkut etc. from Dr. Vikram Singh, Prof., Choudary Devi Lal University who was resource person of this program. Dr. Vishal Goyal, professor, Punjabi University, Patiala also put light on Natural language processor in the evening session. This Faculty Development Programme was designed for the faculty to enhance their knowledge about Recent Trends in Computing and Communication. The faculy members of Patiala Institute of Engg. & Tech, Patiala, Guru Ram Das institute of  Engg. & Tech., Lehra bega, Arya Bhatta College of  Engg. and Tech., Barnala, Bhai Maha Singh College of Engg., Shri Muktsar Sahib, GGSCET, Talwandi Sabo has been participating in this FDP.
On the fourth day Dr. Kawaljeet Singh, Director, Computer Centre, Punjabi University Patiala enlighten the faculty members on various modeling and simulation techniques i.e. how we can tackle the various real life problems in a simulated environment. He told about the generation and  use of pseudo random numbers for this simulation.


Er. Manish Goel, Acting Principal, Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology delivered vote of thanks to the resource persons for their endeavour and benign presence in this program. Mr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman, Baba Farid Group of Insitutions told that this Faculty Development Programme is designed for the faculty to enhance their knowledge about Recent Trends in Computing and Communication for the benefits for students also. He also congratulated the staff of BFCET for organizing this event.
