Today on 28-03-2011, Baba Farid College of Management & Tehnology, Bathinda organized ‘Splash- 2011’ in order to mark the creativity of the students and to insert the spirit of competition among the students. Director-Principal Dr.Manish Bansal, Deputy- Director S. Harpal Singh of BFGI, Head, Dept.of Training & Placement, Mr. Gaurav Garg, Mrs. Yogesh Bajaj, and Heads of the departments Neetu Singh and Deepika Bansal illuminated the lamps. The event compromised number of items, including Business Collage, Presentations, Skit, Mimicry, Extempore, Song Compitetion, Role Play, Professional fashion show and Group dance. The students brilliantly performed on the stage in every event.

The event started with the presentations by the students on the various topics like IT, automobiles, telecom, retail and banking. The students demonstrated their talent and spontaneousl in an event of extempore ‘Just a min’.

In order to beautify the environment Neha, Ravinder, Gopal, Harvinder delighted the audiences with beautiful Punjabi and Hindi numbers. They mesmerized the spectators with their lovely songs.

In the role play event, the students showed their managerial skills. The participants of Group-I stressed on ‘Selling is an art’, whereas Group-II portrayed the qualities of ‘Good ManagerVs Bad Manager’. And  the contestants of Group-III highlighted the differences between ‘Good Interview and Bad Interview’.

A professional fashion show was also organized where the students gracefully walked on the ramp in their professional attire. In the skit competition, the participants satire on the social issues like unemployment.

Jatinder from MBA showed his skills in mimicry and made the audience to laugh at heart.

Deputy-Director Harpal Singh encouraged the students to participate in such events and to improve their skills. In the end Director-Principal Dr. Manish Bansal motivated the students to come up with more such events which could develop their skills and talent.

Student Trip to P.G. Science City, Kapurthala and Sultanpur Lodhi

Department of English, Baba Farid College organised a trip to Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala and Sultanpur Lodhi for the students of MA English on 19/03/2011. Science City is the biggest project of its kind in Northern India, the Science City has been set up in 72 acres of land in the of heart of Punjab, on Jalandhar- Kapurthala Road. It is intended to inculcate the scientific aptitude & temperament, to fire the imagination and creativity, foster the spirit of enquiry and exploration among the masses, especially in the young minds. The students visited various sections viz. Space Theatre, Laser Theatre, Flight Simulator, Space & Aviation, Energy Park, Health Gallery, Virtual Reality, Dinosaurs Park, Fun Science, Boating etc.

The students also visited the historic city of Sultanpur Lodhi. Places visited include Gurudwara Ber Sahib, Gurudwara Hatt Sahib, Gurudwara Bebe Nanaki. The students also visited Nirmal Kutiya set up by Sant Balbir Singh Seecheval in the idyllic surrounds of Bein river.

A farewell party was organized by the students of Baba Farid College on 18^th March, 2011 to bid farewell to the students of B.A. IIIrd year. In the Beginning 2^nd year students gave warm welcome to their seniors. First of all various games were conducted. Students of IInd year gave cultural performances. Talent show was conducted by final year students and on the basis of performance, Mr. and Miss Farewell were chosen by respective judges. Managing Director S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Director Admin Mrs. Paramjit Kaur Dhaliwal and Associate Director Dr. Pardeep Kaura graced the occasion with their benign presence. Managing Director S. Gurmmet Singh Dhaliwal appreciated the talented students. At the end of the party, final year students gave vote of thanks to the Institution, Teachers and their juniors for cordial welcome and for bidding farewell to them

Driven by its gratitude towards the sacrifice of great freedom fighters and revolutionaries Shaheed- E- Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, Department of Mechanical Engg. Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology organized a function “Inquilab-  Ajj vi Khawab” on Mar 21, 2011 to commemorate their Shahidi Divas (Martyrdom day).  The college paid rich tributes to these three revolutionaries who laid down their lives so that their posterity can see the dawn of Independence by organizing Inter College Poem Recitation and Debate Competitions. Students from all the colleges of BFGI debated and recited poems depicting the revolutionary thoughts of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and these competitions evoked great interest among all the dignitaries and students attending the programme. The Chief Guest of the function was Prof. Jagmohan Singh,  nephew of Sardar Bhagat Singh and presently serving as Head, Dept of Computer Science Engineering , Sant Baba Bhag Singh Institution of Engg and Technology, Padhiana. S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Managing Director, BFGI, Mrs Paramjit Kaur Dhaliwal, Director Administration, BFGI, Mr. Harpal Singh, Deputy Director, BFGI, Dr. Jasbir Singh Hundal, Director- Principal, BFCET, Principals of various colleges of BFGI and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion. The judges for these events were Prof. B. D. Sharma, Head, Dept of Career Guidance and Counselling, Prof. Dr. Lok Nath and Mr. Kulwinder Singh. Chief Guest was formally welcomed by our Managing- Director. While remembering Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Mr. Dhaliwal said that Bhagat Singh has done phenomenAL job in India’s freedom but we should question it to ourselves that what we are doing to fulfill his dreams toward his India. He highlighted the need to re-establish thoughts and vision of Bhagat Singh in the present times.

Speaking on this occasion, our guest of the honour Prof. Jagmohan Singh added that we should always remember the heroes who have made supreme sacrifices by laying down their lives for their countrymen. The noble sense for which our martyrs lived and died should be brought home so that our youth imbibe those values that teach us to be true and dedicated in our efforts. Our efforts should be such that not only the present generation, but our progeny should feel proud of taking birth on this sacred land. He also shared enlightening details related to the lives of various freedom fighters.

Dr. Jasbir Singh Hundal, Director- Principal BFCET, paid homage to Shaheed- E- Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, reflected upon the morals and ideas of his life and urged the students to emulate the path shown by him. He said it is important to work selflessly. On this auspicious occasion Deptt of Mech Engg also launched their student body named ‘ACME’ (Association of Competent Mechanical Engineers). Prof. Manish Goyal, Head, Dept of Mechanical Engg formally introduced the aims of this students body to the all present & formally inauguration of the society was done by Prof. Jagmohan Singh & S Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal. A documentary depicting the life history of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, prepared by Vineet Garg, a student of Civil Engg, was also presented to salute this great martyr. The students of BFCET added charm to this function by presenting some cultural items like Choreography, Malwayi Giddha and Patriotic songs to demonstrate that passion which Bhagat Singh had in his blood. Prizes were given to the winners. In Poem Recition competition 1^st position was bagged by Gurdas Singh, a student of Baba Farid College of Education, 2^nd position by Navjot Singh from Baba Farid College of Engg and Tech and 3^rd position by Gurpreet Singh Mann from Baba Farid College of Management and Technology and Debate competition was won by Navjot Singh from BFCET, 2^nd position by Jitender Singh from BFCMT and 3^rd position by Jobanpreet Singh from BFCMT. The students who won positions in Inter College Athletic Meet and participants of Zonal Youth Festival organized by PTU were also awarded with the certificates of appreciation. In the end, Vote of Thanks was delivered by Er. Kulbir Singh Sandhu (Convener of the Function), A.P. in Dept of Mech Engg. The stage was successfully conducted by Er. Ajay Sidana(Lect., ME), Lect.Kuljit Boparai (Deptt.of Applied Sciences).

Jagmit Singh another party attraction sang his recorded song “ Sada wrong side jande da chlan ho gya.” S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Managing Director, Baba Farid Group of Institutions was the chief guest in the party. Mr. Dhaliwal gave his blessings to the departing students for their future. Mr. Pardeep Kaura, Associate Director, Baba Farid College encouraged the students to stand firm on the path of life. On the occasion, Mr. Manish Bansal, Vice Principal, Baba Farid College, make realize the students about hard work. Afterward the students presented the token of love and remembrance to S. Meeting and Departing are part and parcel of life. To make the last day memorable, the students of 10+2 of Baba Farid Sr. Sec. School were given a warm farewell. Special preparations were made for this exciting moment. The students of 10+1 class presented various cultural activities like Solo dance, Group dance, Bhangra etc in the honour of 10+2 students. All were enchanted by the show. A prize distribution function was also conducted on this occasion. The winners of year in various activities and position holders of 10+2 of 1^st Semester were awarded by the Managing Director of BFGI. Komal of 10+2 N.M., Manisha of 10+2 Med., Navreet of 10+2 Arts, Sourav Garg of 10+2 Commerce bagged 1^st position in their respective streams. The Managing Director of BFGI S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal motivated the students with his golden thoughts and inspired them to touch the peak of glory in the future. The Principal of BFSSS, S. Baljinder Singh gave best wishes to the students of 10+2 for their bright future.

Baba Farid Group of Institutions celebrates World Consumer Rights Day

Celebrating the ‘World Consumer Rights Day Baba Farid College of Management & Technology under the aegis of Baba Farid Group of Institutions organized a function at its premise here on Tuesday. The chief objective of this programme was to focus on the rights of consumers as stipulated under consumer Protection Act 1986. The programme was started with lighting the lamp by S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, MD, Baba Farid Group of Institutions , Mrs. Paramjit Kaur Dhaliwal , Director Administration , BFGI , Justice K.K. Singla, Additional Civil Judge (Senior Division) Bathinda as Chief Guest and others.

While addressing the occasion Mr. G.S. Dhaliwal, MD, Baba Farid Group of Institutions encouraged the students to use their rights. He welcomed the Chief Guest of the Day.

Chief guest K.K. Singla said that our money is our right and we have to use it in a right way. He further added that a consumer must be informed about the quality, price, quantity and manufacturing date of a product before to purchase it. He also describes the complaint registration procedure into consumer forum and put a light on the rights of the Act.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Manish Bansal, Director–Principal, Baba Farid College of Management & Technology presented his views on the significance of this special day. The session brought the huge stance of knowledge and awareness about the consumer rights which have been mentioned under the Act.

Placement Wheel on its best Move Kapson Hired 13 students of MBA from Baba Farid

Baba Farid Group of Institutions added a victory point in its placement scorecard by placing its MBA students with a leading retail company, Kapson on 9th March.

Kapson is a leading retail chain which has branches all over North India with an annual turnover of Rs. 90 Crore. The company was established in 1989.

Mr. Anuj Deep Parmar, HR Manager, Kapson delivered a presentation to provide the students a glance of what is expected out of them in one to one round and he conducted final  interviews of the students.  The company shortlisted 13 students with a package of around Rs. 1 Lac per annum. He found himself quite felicitous on seeing the zeal and dedication among the students.

Mr. Gaurav Garg, Head, Department of Training & Placement of BFGI felt honored to have such a hardworking and cooperative team that has been delivering such positive results successively.

BFCET Students Win National Level Robotic Championship

Students of Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology again proved their technical competence by bagging top rank in a National Level Robotic Competition held at the campus of Information-Technology division of Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (UP) from 3rd to 6th March in collaboration with prestigious robotic firm ROBOSAPIENS.

The event dubbed as ROBO-OPUS-11 was participated by a large number of colleges across India. Total of 130 teams with 520 students attended the National Level Robotics Championship for different events in different categories, held as a part of Technex'11, the Annual Techno-management festival of BHU.

The team comprising Arundeep Singh and Gopal Goyal, both the students of ECE Deptt of Baba Farid College of Engineering and technology, prepared a Line Follower Robot operated with the help of mobile phone under the supervision of Er Harmeet Singh Sandhu, Lecturer ECE Department. The team bagged top rank followed by teams of IIT-Bombay and GIT Calcutta, indicating the high technical skill set possessed by BFCET students.

The winners were extended a warm welcome at the Bathinda railway station by the Director Principal Dr. Jasbir S. Hundal, Head of ECE Deptt Er Hardeep Singh, faculty members of the institution and the parents of both students. Dr. Hundal while speaking on the occasion hailed the success of students and announced to set up a special robotic research lab to be run by robotic club of the institute.

Delighted over the outstanding success of BFCET students, S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, the Managing Director of Baba Farid Group of Institutions, Bathinda congratulated the team and assured every possible support for nourishing technical skills of budding engineers of the institute.

Two Day Conference In Memory of Dr. T R Vinod

A two day conference on “Contemporary Punjabi Literature and Criticism” was organized at Baba Farid College,

Muktsar Road

, Bathinda. The conference was a tribute to Dr. T R Vinod. Eminent litterateurs and writers graced the occasion. Prof. Gurdial Singh Padamshri (Gyan Peeth Awardee) presided over the first session. The first day of the conference gathered a huge response of well known writers and critics. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, MD, Baba Farid Group of Institutions in his welcome address presented his gratitude to Dr. T R Vinod for his long patronage to BFGI and also declared that 3^rd of February every year will be dedicated to his memory by organizing seminar or conference. He further added that year 2011 has been dedicated to Development of Youth, the campus will try its level best to make them aware regarding social and moral values, providing them with research opportunity and make them employable.

Dr. Jagbir Singh Ex Prof & HOD Delhi University Presided over first session on the second day. He in his Presidential address he emphasized that study of Literature was need of the hour. Distinguished guest Dr.Jasmeet Singh Director R.R.C Kauni.urged the audience to have concern for the present situation. Dr. Paramjit Singh Dhingra, Director Pb.U.R.C. Muktsar presented paper on Punjabi Novel and Dr. Balkar Singh presented paper on Criticism. Second Academic Session was presided over by Dr Rajinderpal Singh Head Deptt. National Conference on " Recent Advancements in Computer Science " RACS '11

Thyrocare Hires from Baba Farid Group

Baba Farid Group of Institutions continued there endeavors for getting placements for students and in this process a leader of clinical testing Thyrocare visited the campus for hiring MBA students for the first time in Punjab.

Thyrocare is World’s Largest Thyroid Testing Laboratory. It houses more than 350 employees for its current operations. It is certified by ISO, NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories), CAP (College of American Pathologists) with presence of 15 years in the market.

The company officials, Mr. Faiyaz Sadiqi and Mr. Raj Kumar were highly elated to see the enthusiasm and dynamism of the young students.

BFGI joins hands with Taaleem India

Baba Farid Group of Institutions has joined hands with Taaleem India, a prestigious professional training provider in India. A formal function was held on Tuesday to mark the association of the Taalem India with the BFGI and the BFCET. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Managing Director, BFGI, welcomed the dignitaries. Jaiprakash S. Hasrajani, co-founder of Taaleem India lauded BFGI for its mission and vision. Dr Jasbir Singh Hundal, Director-Principal, BFCET thanked the guests at the closing ceremony.

BFGI Dedicates Year-2011 To "Youth Development"

The chief objective of education is overall development of a student and helping him to be good citizen. Realizing its social and moral responsibility BFGI has always been making earnest efforts to provide the students with affordable and quality education. The campus has made it a tradition that every year is dedicated to an important cause. Year 2009 was dedicated to 'social service' while year 2010 to 'placements'. About a dozen placement activities in the form of job fairs were organized in which more than 50 MNCs offered jobs to 1350 students.

Baba Farid Group of Institutions strongly believes that youth is the source of energy and endorsing its view dedicated year 2011 to 'Youth Development'. The group will work for creation of adequate environment and providing necessary infrastructure to youth so that their constructive power might be encouraged and developed. This also includes developing of skills and abilities. The programme of youth development concentrates on following areas.

Social values: 

Present paid education system does not work for developing youth to good citizen & noble human being. Social values are too much extent absent so BFGI will endeavor for creating and developing social values in youth. Awareness camps will be organized. People will be made aware about social evils, Environment pollution, Dowry, Female Foeticide and Drugs etc. They will also be motivated for donating blood. To bring good and progressive literature to the young a mobile library has also been established.

A step further the group is also going to introduce social service as part of syllabus. To encourage the students for participating in social welfare activities. They will be awarded role of honour as well as college color. Along with this they will get same due on academic level also.

Soft Skill and Technical specialization: 

Today students have got only certificates but not soft and technical skills. Hence they are unable to make a niche in the corporate section. The little of skills given today are not up to the mark. So soft skills and technical training set a primary place in the syllabus. Both long term and short term certificate courses will be started. They will run in morning as well as evening sessions.

Research and Development: 

Students only aim at passing exam and are limited to get bookish knowledge. As a result need for research does not develop and they are unable to become researcher and thinkers. BFGI will establish high level research labs to promote research activities. It will provide opportunities to students in different fields of research. For this an Innovation Centre with international level facilities is going to be established very soon. This centre will be supported by companies of international fame and having high level technical efficiency. Centre will also be helpful for getting “Patents and IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) All this is to develop positive attitude and logical thinking in youth.

Placement Activities: 

Malwa region has been lagging behind in the field of getting good placements. The group has decided to remove this stigma. In the year 2011 the objective for placement is fixed at 5000. 'Mega Job Fairs' will be organized in April and June. Beside these placements drives will also be conducted every month. These opportunities are provided to students free of cost.

To accomplish the above task BFGI will guide and help beside providing them with opportunities efforts will concentrate on the basic 3 elements. Punctuality, Transparency and Use of Technology.
